The Hummingbird Raku Ceramic Cremation Urn is a subtle yet classic memorial crafted by hand in the traditional Raku ceramics style. The hummingbird image is a raised carving completed individually and by hand. Raku is a traditional ancient Japanese firing process used in the production of stoneware, and with a lovely glaze finish and your choice of color scheme this ceramic urn is an elegant memorial urn for your loved one.
In Raku firing each piece of pottery is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of combustible materials such as straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking, oxygen starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface creating the unique, seemingly ancient, colors and textures of raku. Thus, each of our one-of-a-kind Raku-fired urn vessels are unique in the particulars of the design and glaze finish.
These urns are typically in stock (Standard and Large sizes) and ship out the same or next business day of your order. If you need the urn by a specific date please contact us and we will make the necessary arrangements. These are handmade items, and as such shape and colors of each urn will vary.

**Colors and finish vary considerably.** The shape and hummingbird design will be the same, but the actual colors and finish of the urn's surface are unique and original to each piece.
You may order this beautiful raku ceramic urn in a several different sizes to suit your need; we offer Standard (180 cubic inches), Large (220 c.i.), Companion or Double Urn (375 c.i.), cubic inches of cremains. The general rule to follow when figuring size is that 1 lb. healthy body weight equals 1 cubic inch of cremated remains; thus, a 180 lb. individual would need a 180 cubic inch funeral urn.
