Shell Theme Ceramic Cremation Urn is designed with an ocean sea life theme in mind. A classical pottery urn shape with handles, this funeral urn is a wonderful memorial to the beach-combing, seashore-loving ocean adventurer. The artist made molds of real sea shells from Washington beaches. An asymmetrical design clustered around the handles was chosen.

Scallops, clams, starfish, snails, and mollusks are placed as if on the edge of the water amid seaweed. After the sculptural work was completed the urn was bisque fired and painted with undercolorants with the resulting ocean-blue coloring. The main color for the body was chosen and a palette of colors matching those of real sea organisms was selected. Great attention to detail is taken in the process of painting to achieve a trompe l'oeil affect.

As each ceramic urn is individually hand-crafted and thrown on the potter's wheel, the design is unique. These ceramic urns are generally made-to-order, so please allow up to 10 business days for your urn to be shipped.
