Each Blackberry Raku Ceramic Cremation Urn is uniquely designed and handcrafted by a ceramic artist in the USA, using real blackberry leaves and berries. Our ceramic artist individually produces each urn by hand, which is impressed with actual blackberries and leaves, then covered with a crackle glaze and then Raku fired, resulting in a natural-looking and earthy cremation urn for your loved one.

In Raku firing each cremation urn is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame, and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking, oxygen-starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface, creating raku's unique, seemingly ancient colors and textures. Thus, each of our one-of-a-kind Raku-fired funeral urns is unique in the particulars of the design and glaze finish.

These ceramic urns are generally made-to-order. Please allow time for production. Often, we can finish and deliver sooner, but if you need the urn by a specific date, please contact us at 877-900-5309, and we will make the necessary arrangements, We will notify you within 3 business days.

Mom’s Blackberries

I was looking for a Raku fired urn for my mother in her recent passing. This Japanese firing technique leads to a beautiful, unique product with lots of color. Then I saw this blackberry urn. They are hand designed by local artists, which I knew my mom would appreciate, especially being an artist herself. She lived in California, but used to love how blackberries grew all over Washington state. When we used to take hikes, she would pick the berries. It was something that always reminded me of her. After asking a few questions, I decided that this was the urn we needed. It was fired using the Raku technique and when you opened the urn, you could see the beautiful colors bursting through. You could actually touch the stems and leaves and even feel the imprint of the blackberries themselves on the cracked glazed finish. I talk to my mom daily and touch the urn and give her a kiss and it brings a little bit of peace to me that she is there where I know she would love to be in the beautiful and unique urn.

Absolutely beautiful

I was immediately taken with this urn the moment I saw it. It’s perfect for my husband who was a gardener and had a deep love of Japan and Japanese culture. The urn has beautiful color and texture and is a fitting resting place for him. The staff made sure I could get one in ample time for his service.

My Sweetheart’s resting place

Suke loved to pick blackberries and make jam of them. This urn was the perfect match for my love. It was beautifully made and fit her perfectly. I could not believe the color and finish were so vibrant.
