Handcrafted Falling Leaves Maple Raku Ceramic Cremation Urn
The Falling Leaves Maple Raku Urn is a hand-thrown ceramic vessel, handmade in Washington State by a ceramic artist. The maple leaves are carved and finished with your choice of contrasting glaze to highlight the "falling leaves" pattern, then fired in the traditional Japanese method of Raku ceramics.
In Raku firing each piece of pottery is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame, and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking oxygen-starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface, creating raku's unique, seemingly ancient colors and textures. Thus, each of our one-of-a-kind Raku-fired funeral urns is unique in the particulars of the design and glaze finish.
As these ceramic urns are generally made-to-order, please allow time to produce your urn.
Notes
**Colors and finish vary considerably.** While the shape of the urn and any design will be the same as what you see pictured above, the actual patterns of coloration on the urn's surface will be unique to each piece, making it a one-of-a-kind memorial.
