Small Anagama Ceramic Urn - "Mizusashi"
Handcrafted by a talented American ceramic artist, this one-of-a-kind cremation urn reflects traditional Japanese pottery heritage and raw natural elements. Inspired by the Mizusashi (the traditional freshwater vessel used in Japanese Tea Ceremonies), this hexagonal, faceted jar is hand-thrown from gritty, textured stoneware clay blended with sand and feldspathic mineral rocks.
The urn was wood-fired continuously for six days inside an Anagama (a traditional subterranean tunnel kiln). During the firing, airborne wood ash settled across the front face, creating a delicate, natural ash glaze. The reverse side features four distinct seashell impressions—a signature mark left where the jar rested atop shells on the kiln shelf during its multi-day firing. The vessel is capped with a matching ceramic lid secured by an organic bamboo tie, blending ancient technique with serene visual grace.
The urn in the picture will be the one you receive.
