Small Five-Sided "Hut" Anagama Ceramic Urn

Handcrafted by a talented American ceramic artist, this one-of-a-kind cremation urn takes inspiration from traditional Japanese architectural form and natural earth elements. Formed using a rich brown stoneware clay, the vessel's distinct pentagonal "hut" profile was sculpted using a rope-wrapped paddle, leaving subtle paddled textures along its five lower facets. Separating each section of the roof-like lid is a delicate, hand-stamped traditional Japanese wave pattern.

The urn was wood-fired continuously for six days inside an Anagama (a traditional subterranean tunnel kiln). During this intense firing, atmospheric flame and wood ash swept across the chamber, darkening portions of the lid into deep, natural black tones. To hold the lid securely to the base, a striking red thread cord channels through hand-drilled eyelets and ties neatly across the recessed foot on the underside. Stamped on the lower-right facet sits the artisan's personal potter's mark.

Designed to hold a small portion of an adult's cremains, or the full cremains of a beloved child, or pet.

The urn in the picture will be the one you receive.
