A beautiful forest-themed ceramic urn made in the traditional Japanese ceramic process of Raku firing. This urn is impressed with plants and trees of the forest and covered with a crackle glaze then Raku fired, leaving the bits of forestry embedded into the urn, giving it a one-of-a-kind look and feel. A wonderful memorial for the outdoors person.

In Raku firing each piece of pottery is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking, oxygen starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface creating the unique, seemingly ancient, colors and textures of raku. Thus, each of our one-of-a-kind Raku-fired funeral urns are unique in the particulars of the design and glaze finish.

These ceramic urns are generally made-to-order, please allow some time for your urn to be handcrafted and shipped. Often, we can finish and deliver sooner, but if you need the urn by a specific date please contact us and we will attempt make the necessary arrangements, and if we are unable to fulfill we will notify within 3 business days. Please note that each urn is uniquely handmade using natural materials, so each piece will be unique and may vary from the picture.

You may order this beautiful raku ceramic urn a Standard size (180 cubic inches) or a sharing keepsake size (45 cubic inches). The general rule to follow when figuring size is that 1 lb. healthy body weight equals 1 cubic inch of cremated remains; thus, a 180 lb. individual would need a 180 cubic inch funeral urn.
