Hand-Turned Birch Urn with Green Dye 23

Made of solid Birch, this piece is dyed a beautiful blue and green color, adding a unique look to the grain.  The lid is made from solid maple and dyed black, with hand-chased wooden threads for a secure closure. The inside of the vessel is hand painted black to add a finished feel and balance to the piece. The outside has a multicoat urethane finish for durability and longevity, and is hand-polished and buffed to a lovely sheen.

The Sunrise Series is one that has graceful lines and a fine flowing curve. It is a design that I developed to capture the beauty of the long grain on the side of the vessel but also the skewed end grain at the top where the curve bends across the fibers. Topped off with a small groove detail, this piece is truly magnificent, much like a beautiful sunrise.
