Each Blackberry Raku Ceramic Cremation Urn is uniquely designed and handcrafted by a ceramic artist in the USA, using real blackberry leaves and berries. Our ceramic artist individually produces each urn by hand, which is impressed with actual blackberries and leaves, then covered with a crackle glaze and then Raku fired, resulting in a natural-looking and earthy cremation urn for your loved one.

In Raku firing, each cremation urn is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame, and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking, oxygen-starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface, creating raku's unique, seemingly ancient colors and textures. Thus, each of our one-of-a-kind Raku-fired funeral urns is unique in the particulars of the design and glaze finish.

These ceramic urns are generally made-to-order. Please allow time for production.

Notes

**Colors and finish vary considerably.** While the shape of the urn and any design will be the same as what you see pictured above, the actual patterns of coloration on the urn's surface will be unique to each piece, making it a one-of-a-kind memorial.

Beautiful Urn

This urn is lovely and the craftmanship is exquisite. It is much more beautiful in person than the picture shows. The color shown is accurate, the urn was wonderfully packaged and delivery was ahead of schedule. The urn does smell of wood fire and straw which is expected for a raku fired piece, but some airing out removes that odor. My Mother will love being laid to rest in such a lovely piece of art.

Beautifully Crafted

I chose this raku fired urn to honor my Japanese grandmother's heritage. The blackberries remind me of the time I spent in her garden as a child, and the green reflects what was once her earthy nature. This urn is perfect and I am positive my Obachan approves.

The pictures don't do it justice

It's really really beautiful. My Amy loved picking blackberries ever since she was a child and through adulthood. I think this is something she would have picked for herself. It feels really well made and the blackberries are beautiful. I don't think their own pictures do it justice.
