Handmade Raku Cremation Urn in Dolphin Blue
This simple and elegant cremation urn is hand thrown in the traditional Japanese Raku-fired ceramic process. A very popular pottery style, this handmade urn is individually crafted to order for your loved one by a ceramic artist in the state of Washington.
In Raku firing each piece of pottery is taken from the kiln red hot, the molten glaze silken and glowing. Then it is placed in a bed of straw or leaves in an air-tight container. The dry plant material immediately bursts into flame and the “reduction chamber” is sealed. The flame and the smoking oxygen starved atmosphere transform the glaze surface creating the unique, seemingly ancient, colors and textures of raku. Thus, each of our Raku-fired funeral urns are one of a kind and unique in the particulars of the design.
Each ceramic urn is generally made-to-order, but they do take some time to produce. Often, we can deliver sooner, but if you need the urn by a specific date please contact us and we will make the necessary arrangements, if unable we will notify within 3 business days.
