The Saggar Burnished Fired Urn 231 is an extraordinary piece, distinguished by its unique texture from saggar firing. It features a lid embellished with bamboo and brass elements, making the urn a notable homage. Its size is suitable for holding a portion of the cremains of an adult or can be used as a child urn.

The difference from Saggar and Raku:

The raku pots have undergone a firing process known as "naked raku," resulting in hues ranging from white to grey to black, with all the coloration derived from smoke absorbed into the clay body.

Saggar-fired pots are placed within a container inside the kiln, accompanied by a variety of organic materials and minerals that contribute to the color development on the unglazed pots.

From the Artist: "These fired works are intended for decorative or dry storage use (ashes). You can care for them as you would fine woodworking. Keep out of extended direct sunlight and DO NOT place water in these vessels as it will ruin the finish. Glazes, after all, are only part of the statement."

The urn in the picture will be the urn you receive.
