The Saggar Burnished Fired Urn 294, a truly remarkable creation distinguished by its unique texture, attained through firing alongside green vegetation, yielding a captivating fossil-like appearance. Enhanced with a lid featuring embellishments of vintage brass, and bamboo this urn serves as an extraordinary tribute.

From the Artist: "These fired works are intended for decorative or dry storage use (ashes). You can care for them as you would fine woodworking. Keep out of extended direct sunlight and DO NOT place water in these vessels as it will ruin the finish. Glazes, after all, are only part of the statement."

A little bit about the process of making these urns:
Sagger pieces are fired twice. The first is a (bisque). The second firing is done in the (sagger), that is, a container filled with minerals, wood shavings etc. Sometimes the piece is wrapped in seaweed or other materials to get color. Salt is added to the Sagger along with other materials in the attempt to get an interesting surface. The Sagger is placed in a fuel burning kiln and fired to about 1800 degrees. Every piece is different, most pots are fired several times to satisfy the artist.
